Marmomacc Meets Design – Path Design Fair

The sixth consecutive edition of the recently concludedMarmomacc Meets Designthis year has put companies and designers facing the issue of sustainability, that was substantiated with a return to the naturalness of the material.

All projects submitted transmit a new way of working first and then use the material, that it is now clear to all be a scarce resource and non-renewable. The theme "The colours of green: sustainable stone"Is an excuse to convey messages broader and deeper, harmonization with nature and ethical sense. Sustainability is a design factor which must be essential in our society and must be understood as a new sense of responsibility with which part of the world.

Each designer invited to Marmomacc has developed a metaphor to express this strong need of modernity and respect for nature: Lorenzo DamianiconCalvasinawas able to confer to a marble lightness and flexibility unexpected, sustainability is not calculated at the end of the production cycle, but upstream of the design phase.

The homeland was the reason for inspiration for the Irish studyGrafton Architects, that made him standPibamarmia sort of abstract landscape.

Lorenzo Palmeriplayed with stonesStone Italiana, working the natural material as if it were worked by the movement of the elements.

La pietra leccese di Pi.Mar. gave way to the architectsScacchetti Luca and Cinzia Anguissolato experience endless color combinations made possible by the interaction between light and processing.

The collaboration betweenSetsu & Shinobu ItoandGrassi Pietresi rinnova, by reflecting on the spirituality of stone. Mountains of stones and scraps, flowing water and plants and grass are born because the stone is alive.

Thanks to the agreement withTesti Group, Tobia Scarpahas been able to propose a reflection on the potential of the nature and quality of man's relationship with it. The man must give its passage by improving the universe around him.

Massimiliano Caviascadealt with the South Tyrolean stoneChestnut a decorative element as well as the nature of the offers, machining and cutting processes with minimized: "The stone out of the mountain showing up for what it is".

PerLucy SalamancaThe challenge was to deconstruct and re-read the porphyryOdorizzi Porfidi, reinterpreting it and associating it with water, earth and fire. The company has been working for the first time the material in a different conception from the traditions: the hard porphyry becomes malleable.

The marble, natural material and old brings with him a wealth aesthetic, cultural and planning which puts it in line with the rediscovery of the ecological sense, environmental and landscape: this is the "leitmotiv"That unites thought and projects Marmomacc Meets Design 2012.

During the event we had as guests all the designers who participated in the project and each of them we did a video interview: Lorenzo Damiani Calvasina by e Puster&Ronchetti, Zaha Hadid for Citco, Massimiliano Caviasca per Fuchs, Setsu & Shinobu Ito to Grassi Pietre, Lucy Salamanca Odorizzi for Porphyry, Luca Scacchetti con Cinzia Anguissola for Pi.Mar., Grafton Architects for Pibamarmi, Lorenzo Palmeri per Stone Italiana, Tobia Scarpa for Texts Group.
