Budri at the Salone del Mobile 2013 with the project "Earthquake 5.9"

Budri, Italian atelier inlay, over 50 years known worldwide for manufacturing high-quality marble and stone, will be at the Salone del Mobile with an exhibition that has now been seen starring in the marble creations by Patricia Urquiola.

 

In the space of the stand will present the new collection Earthquake 5.9, whose title refers to the May earthquake in Emilia 2012, an event that has affected many companies in the area involving so important to the company Mirandola, who has suffered damage to its plant and the extensive archive of marble and semi-precious stones (onyx, lobule, amethysts, nacre, …).

 

Patricia Urquiola has chosen to stand a wooden frame, material warm and welcoming, resistant and seismic, as if to secure the company and its wealth of solid stone building a shelter and protective.

Inside the booth, addition to the wide and new collection, the project Earthquake 5.9 continues in a "secret room" where fragments of marble, from the slabs damaged by the earthquake, play an entire wall that the creative generosity of Patricia turns into an exclusive inlay art.

 

The new collection continues the references to Eastern culture, and comprises:

Earthquake Origami Tables, taken from the Japanese world, small marble tables "bent" to 90 degrees that serves as a vertical support and support surface.

Earthquake Mirrors, made with the same technique of Origami Tables. The marble orthogonally tilted up the frame of mirrors.

Earthquake Bookcase, family of modular library and combinable characterized by an irregular shape, with shelves made from strips of marble inclined.

Earthquake Table, dining table inspired by Japanese origami, whose legs are created by playing and bending the marble as if it were paper.

Earthquake Boiserie, a coating made three relief decoration from natural dyes, with references to the handmade wool.
